I am a PhD Candidate in the English Department at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. My Field of study is British Romantic literature, and my dissertation explores Romantic Gothic literature in relation to its economic contexts.

I first encountered Mary Shelley's tales in The Keepsake while conducting research for a term paper in the first year of my PhD program. While writing about the Gothic economics in "Transformation," I became fascinated by Shelley's other tales and by The Keepsake itself. The University of Victoria Libraries holds a full run of these beautiful books in its special collections, and I began planning and developing this project with the goal of making these tales available and accessible to a wide readership.
